How can NSAIDs cause acute renal failure?

Prostaglandins are responsible for the vasodilatation of the afferent arterioles in the glomeruli. NSAIDs inhibit the production of these prostaglandins, as a result of which the afferent arterioles undergo constriction. This may lead to acute renal failure.
