CLED agar is a non-selective medium that supports the growth of a great majority of the bacteria which cause UTIs. Klebsiella will produce large, yellow colonies that are very moist (mucoid) due to the polysaccharide capsule). Escherichia coli produce yellow colonies, but they are much smaller than Klebsiella's.

Both bacteria are lactose-fermenting, which is the reason they both turn yellow on CLED (Cystine lactose electrolyte deficient) agar.
